Skills and techniques for ormolu restoration:
The world of French XVIIth and XVIIIth century ormolu is composed of a multitude of different types of works: firedogs, wall-lights, candlesticks, candelabra, mounts that adorn commodes, coiffeuses, bureaux, encoignures, vases, ewers...
Our activity lies at the heart of this domain and serves to restore these works to their original splendour.
Our skills and techniques include:
- stabilising and neutralising oxidised ormolu surfaces,
- restoring the coherence between the gilt surface and its original support,
- reproducing missing decorative elements (involving archival research, elaboration of a prototype, preparation of the bronze, chasing and burnishing...)
